Lewis Edson Waterman November 18, [Note 1] — May 1, ,[1] born in Decatur, New York, was the inventor of the capillary feed fountain pen and the founder of the Waterman pen company. Waterman's fountain pen was patented February 12, He had two younger brothers, Daniel and Elisha. Their father Elisha Waterman, a successful wagon maker in his vicinity, died in before his youngest brother was born.
